Service and panel upgrades
Service and panel upgrades
Upgrades from 100 to 200 amps, panel replacements, meter and mast work, and subpanels. We handle the permit and coordinate with your utility.
When an upgrade makes sense
- You are adding an EV charger, hot tub, shop, addition or electric appliance
- The panel is full and every new circuit is a workaround
- Breakers trip often or the panel feels warm
- Your insurer or home inspector flagged an older panel
- Your weatherhead, mast or meter socket is damaged
How the job runs
We check your existing service, calculate your load and give you a written estimate. On install day, we coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with your utility, including Alliant Energy and rural electric co-ops. Plan on your power being off for part of the day. We label the new panel so you can find every circuit, and the inspection gets scheduled where it is required.
Storm damage
A pulled-down service mast or damaged meter socket usually needs an electrician before the utility can restore your power. Call us and tell us what you see. Stay clear of any downed line and report it to your utility first.
“They worked quickly to replace the weatherhead on my snowy roof and got my power back on.”
Common questions
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most homes are a one-day job. Power is off for part of that day, and we will tell you when to expect it.
Do I need 200 amps?
Many homes do, especially with electric heat, an EV charger or a shop. Some do not. We calculate your load and tell you which size fits, including if a subpanel would solve the problem for less.
Do you work with the utility?
Yes. We schedule the disconnect and reconnect, and we handle anything the utility requires at the meter.
